I am a graduate of Cazenovia College, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design and Professional Decorating. My goal is to fully immerse myself in the industry in order to further expand my knowledge and professional experience in the field.
Cazenovia College provided me with a strong educational and professional foundation by offering courses such as Speech & Rhetoric, American Sign Language, Lighting I & II, Materials & Finishes, Building Codes, Decorating, Contract Interiors, Residential Design, Professional Orientation, Aesthetics, Retail Design, Intro to Psychology, and many more. I was also able to serve as the founder and Crew Captain for the college’s Love Your Melon campus crew, an organization that raises money for pediatric cancer research funding, among many other amazing opportunities.
From December 2015 to January 2016, I interned at Experience & Creative Design Ltd., an event planning and interior design firm in Schenectady, NY. There I was able to gain experience in event planning, interior design, and sales by assisting in the setup of wedding ceremonies and receptions, and by working with clients to select décor or furniture pieces in the design showroom. This internship allowed me to realize my passion for both the interior design and event planning industries.
In February 2016 I was able to utilize my passion for writing by creating content for The Lala, an online publication geared towards women in college.
From June 2016 to August 2016, and again from December 2016 to January 2017, I interned at Uniquely Yours, a small interior design firm in Dolgeville, NY. With this internship I was able to attend client meetings, assist with project installs, draft floorplans using AutoCAD, develop 3D models using Google SketchUp, and assist in the selection of materials and finishes.
In June 2017 I emerged myself into my first career as a Kitchen & Bath Designer at Curtis Lumber Company, a well-respected family-owned Lumber company with 21+ locations in New York and Vermont. This is where I have been able to apply my skills to real-life situations as well as strengthen skills such as design, team building, networking, sales, and problem solving, while building knowledge in 2020 design and Spruce POS.
